ROMA at THREE RIVERS PEI Visitors 2006 page 2 |

The 2006 Roma Workshops were most enthusiastically received by the crowds who attended March 3rd and 4th. Ideas were sparked for 1700s style raised garden plots and details will be worked out so Roma volunteers can perform carpentry skills in historic fashion. Most unusual, rare Roma artifacts were displayed for viewing and handling (carefully). Techniques for re-enactors proved especially fun and informative. You can expect to see us bowing and curtseying properly soon, and occasional dances or songs may break forth at costumed events in the future! Many thanks are due to our expert and entertaining presenters from Parks Canada Sandy Anthony, Peter Chiasson and Rob Ferguson and from Acadian folklore expert Georges Arsenault. And for organizing the events and feeding everybody so well, thank you to Elizabeth Lelacheur, Jean Jans, Brenda Dewar, Joan Saunders, Gwen Beck and LouAnn Thomson. |

As part of the “Célébrations de la Francophonie 2006”, the Comité Acadien et Francophone de l’Est (CAFÉ) in collaboration with Roma at Three Rivers Inc. organized a French historic interpretation day on March 18th at the Pavilion of Roma at Three Rivers. An informative Power Point presentation in the Pavilion, a walk in the crisp air on the heritage trail with an costumed historian and a lively musical performance by Les Alouettes Choral group were enjoyed by all. |
