Roma Artifacts Return Home

after 36 Years

Volunteers Gwen Beck and Jean Jans, and Three Rivers Roma President Dale Dewar were delighted June 14, 2006 to officially receive from Parks Canada Halifax conservator Colleen Day a representative collection of items dug out of the Roma Point site by archaeologists in 1968-70.  In storage in Halifax since then, these are unique evidence of life at Jean Pierre Roma’s 1732-45 settlement and from now on will be on permanent display in the pavilion of Roma at Three Rivers.

Beginning June 26th tour guides will be available Tuesday to Sunday each week to explain these artifacts in detail and conduct one-hour tours of the Heritage Trail for visitors who wish to explore and learn more about the site.
