ROMA GARDENERS IN ACTION
The garden plots are prepared (nineteen raised beds within the fence). We have good information on plants grown here in the 1700s, some appropriate perennial roots, and a greenhouse full of seedlings. Herbs and vegetables will be grown in symmetrical raised beds as in Roma’s time but the harvest will go to the Montague Food Bank as part of their “Plant a row, grow a row” program. Garden Coordinator Ian Bloomfield expects a small group of volunteers will work in the gardens half a day each week and lunch together for fun and friendship. If you can help in any way, please contact Ian by clicking here.
The first GARDENERS’ GET-TOGETHER at the site will be MAY 19TH AM. |

ROMA BAKERS EAGER TO BEGIN
The oven is ready and news of the first baking opportunity is spreading. Four hours of fire in the oven heats the bricks & clay enough to bake up to 360 loaves! As soon as the new kitchen is outfitted The Baking Coordinator will invite all interested to come give it a try. A little teaching and experimenting and the group expects to offer fresh heritage bread for sale each week this summer and hands-on baking experience for visitors. If you can help in any way, please contact us by clicking here. A half-day per week for most volunteers and lunch together for fun and friendship is part of the plan. |
